See your Markdown notes as a timeline

Point Zeitlines at a notes folder you own. Each Markdown file becomes an item, while timeline configuration stays beside the notes.

Use the folder in place

A folder containing timeline.json declares itself as a source. Zeitlines scans its Markdown files and maps their frontmatter into item fields.

Keep both editing surfaces

During local development, changes in the notes reach the timeline and supported browser edits reach the notes. Read-only mode is available for folders where the prose should remain untouched.

Configure the scan with the source

Date fields, grouping and link edges are declared in the folder configuration, so the interpretation travels with the notes. Read the filesystem guide.
